The Gallery

The Jones No. 35 appears to have been an attempt by the company to reinvigorate its Cylindrical Shuttle machine which had been in production since 1893 with only relatively minor improvements.

The No. 35 is not as common as other Jones machines, it was introduced shortly before World War 2 and production was short lived with about 20,000 machines being produced. However in Great Britain a good example can be found at less than £20 depending on condition and completeness.

As very little information is available about this model we would welcome copies of any adverising material relating to this model.

 Jones No 35

Jones No. 35 Serial No. M18100.

This machine was probably produced around 1937. The Japanning is chipped on the bed and the decals are slightly worn.

This example has a 1/30 h.p. Jones motor controlled by a foot pedal, the motor also incorporates a needle point light. The machine came complete with manual and a leaflet for electrifying Jones machines with the date code 4/36 (April 1936). These were in an original envelope on which Jones C.S. has been crossed out and overstamped with No. 35.
